According to ESPN.com, the Atlanta Falcons signed Edgerton Hartwell to a 6 year contract worth $26.25 million. The former Baltimore Ravens linebacker was second to Ray Lewis in tackles since joining the team 4 seasons ago.

The 6'1", 250 lbs. LB enters his fifth year as a professional. He is the fourth defensive free agent signed by the Falcons this offseason. The others: safeties Rich Coady and Ronnie Heard as well as linebacker Ike Reese.

The 26 year old product of Western Illinois played inside linebacker on the Raven's 3-4 defense. He will likely shift to MLB in the Falcon's 4-3 system.
