Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is being sued by a woman who claims he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

Sonya Elliott accused Vick of giving her genital herpes in an April 2003 encounter, according to a civil lawsuit filed in Georgia. In the complaint, the 26 year-old Elliott seeks damages alleging from negligence by Vick, unwanted physical contact, pain, suffering and potential future medical complications.

Elliott claims she met the 24 year old in Virginia Beach, VA., in 2001. She allegedly had an on-and-off relationship with him before and after she moved to the Atlanta area in 2002.

The health worker specializing in geriatric care was forced to seek legal remedies after Vick refused to help her deal with the symptoms, according to Elliott's attorney Cale Conley. The QB's attorney has until May 6 to respond to the lawsuit filed on March 14 in Gwinnett County State Court.

Genital herpes is a virus spread through sexual contact. It is a permanent condition that can be treated, but not cured, with medication.
