The Atlanta Falcons have signed free-agent linebacker Orlando Huff to a contract. The seven-year veteran played the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. Terms of the deal are for one-year at the league minimum salary.

Commentary: Huff is a solid outside LB who had 79 tackles and started 13 games for Arizona in 2006. He provides some insurance for injured Falcon linebacker Demorrio Williams, who tore a pectoral muscle lifting weights.

Fantasy Football Impact: If Huff replaces Williams he could be a nice pickup in IDP leagues, but only for a few games. It is projected Williams should be back to full strength after the first couple of games of the season, if not sooner. For leagues that play team defense, this signing will have little or no impact. The Falcons ranked 22nd in the NFL in total defense last season, and Huff, though solid, will not do much to improve that ranking.
