For most fantasy football owners, this is the time to set your roster, relax and look forward to Week 1. But if you're putting a lot of stock on the following players, you may want to hit the books in search of a backup plan.

Matt Hasselbeck, quarterback, Seattle Seahawks:

Hasselbeck hasn't seen the field since he hurt his back against the Vikings on Aug. 8 He's expected to be fine for the opener in Buffalo, but don't be surprised if he gets off to a slow start. If Hasselbeck's your No. 1 QB, consider benching him this week against the Bills' improved defense until you can see how he's recovered.

Rudi Johnson, running back, Detroit Lions:

Cincinnati recently waved goodbye to Johnson, which shouldn't be a total shock to most seasoned fantasy owners; however, a few of you may have still given him the benefit of the doubt. If he was gonna be on your starting roster, let's hope you've already made moves to change that. If he's on your bench, wait to see how he'll be used in Detroit before giving him the boot. If he's a goal-line option, he may still have value. A lot of owners will be running out to grab the Bengals' new No. 1 RB, Chris Perry, and if you need a Week 1 replacement, go for it. But a more solid investment may be the Bengals' Kenny Watson, who could put up better fantasy numbers than Perry over the course of the season.

Reggie Brown, wide receiver, Philadelphia Eagles:

Brown played one snap during the preseason, and a hamstring injury may even keep him out Week 1. Hamstring problems have bothered some players for entire seasons in the past, and Brown has already missed time with an Achilles strain.

Willis McGahee, running back, Baltimore Ravens:

McGahee had his knee cleaned up in August and is expected to be ready for Week 1. But he hasn't been on the field; in fact, he's only be running in a swimming pool. McGahee skipped most offseason minicamps and may not be accommodated to new coordinator Cam Cameron's offense. Keep an eye on his performance; it may take a few weeks for McGahee to get fully comfortable.
