When it was confirmed that Chris Chambers would once again sit out with a bum ankle, discerning fantasy football owners took a close look at San Diego’s reserve wideouts in preparation for Week 7. That said, only the most visionary (or desperate) owners thought to start little-known wideout Malcolm Floyd, who was facing a stout Buffalo Bills secondary

Sure enough, Floyd came up big Sunday, catching four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. This is yet another reminder to scour the waiver wire carefully when starting wide receivers are forced to miss time. It can often lead to a very pleasant surprise performance.

On another note: Though he is far from waiver-wire material, Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White rewarded faithful owners who kept the touchdown machine in their starting lineups for Sunday. White is known for his goal-line scoring proficiency, but he had a rare breakout performance (149 yards, three touchdowns) in a win over Kansas City.
