Before trashing this writer’s fantasy football prowess for even suggesting that one should pick up Minnesota Vikings quarterback, consider how consistent Gus Frerotte has been since being inserted into the starting lineup in September.

Frerotte has thrown for a touchdown in all but one of his starts and has gone over the 200-yard plateau five times in eight contests, making him a sure shot for double-digit points in most leagues. The journeyman signal-caller had his best outing of the season coming off a bye in Week 9, throwing for 181 yards with four touchdowns and just one interception, but has cooled off in his last two outings. In Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay, Frerotte attempted just 20 passes, completing 14 for 138 yards and a score.

Frerotte likely has one or two big games left in him and can provide a solid start if your No. 1 QB is injured, inconsistent or facing a fierce defense.
