Things seemed to settle down and get back to normal in the third round of our fantasy football draft. There were five running backs selected, four wide receivers, two quarterbacks and one tight end (Guess who). Here's the rundown from picks 25-36.

- Connor Byrne made Reggie Bush the second of his bookend picks (he took Marvin Harrison with the final pick of the second round). Bush will likely share the load with incumbent starter Deuce McAllister, but his exceptional playmaking ability, which has already been showcased in the preseason, makes him a solid pick...if he doesn't hit the dreaded rookie wall.

- Mike Medina made another solid move, picking up Brian Westbrook with the 26th pick overall. Westbrook has a history of getting banged up and he is not a true every-down back, but his knack for being Donovan McNabb's go-to guy in the passing game makes him a steal of sorts. Well Done, Mike.

- Here we go again...Eric Krupka was the latest victim of WR hysteria, although at this point, it's a bit more plausible to see receivers coming off the board. He selected one of the most proven and reliable fantasy pass catchers out there: Torry Holt.

- It looks like Anthony Carroll gets the double whammy for his third-round selection. Not only did he pick a wide receiver, but he also picked a Raider (the team he covers). While Randy Moss used to be arguably the top fantasy receiver, his numbers dipped significantly last season, and thus far in the offseason, there has been little to suggest that Moss' quarterback (whoever that ends up being) is going to be able to get him the football on a consistent basis. Then again, he could return to his old form and leave me looking like the fool. Only time will tell.

- Josh Kirk made it three in a row, as he selected Colts wideout Reggie Wayne. The former Miami Hurricane should have another monster year, so he should pay good dividends for a 29th overall pick.

- J.R. Hopwood made possibly the most questionable move of the round, selecting Domanick Davis with the 30th choice. Not only is Davis hurt, but he has also been watching from the sidelines while youngster Vernand Morency impresses in his stead. Davis is a nice player, but I have a feeling that he will have to share the load even if he is 100 percent healthy. Still, at least J.R. didn't pick a receiver, right?

- The sneakiest pick of the round came courtesy of Darrell Laurant. He went with all-world tight end Antonio Gates. The fact that Gates is far and away the best fantasy tight end out there makes him more than worthy of a 31st overall pick. Nice move, Darrell.

- Jason Kirk continued his trend of taking risky players, selecting Kevin Jones with the eight pick of the third round. One of two things will happen:
1) Under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Mike Martz, Jones will become the Lions' version of Marshall Faulk.
2) Jones will once again platoon at the running back position and turn in a pedestrian fantasy season.
Obviously, Jason is counting on the former.

- It's always a good thing when Eli Manning falls to you late in the third round. Manning's pedigree and the wealth of talent that surrounds him makes the third-year pro a very solid No. 1 quarterback, although some might question why I would pass up on the more proven Carson Palmer. The answer to that is simple: I don't like taking players coming off injury.

- Alex Guzman has made yet another homer, I mean solid, pick. Seriously, though, I think that Chris Chambers will have an even bigger season than his 2005 campaign, which included 11 touchdowns and a Pro Bowl berth.

- Os Davis made a relatively questionable pick, selecting DeShaun Foster with the 11th choice of the third round. Foster is the incumbent starter, but he has a long history of injury problems and will lose reps to first-round pick DeAngelo Williams. Then again, maybe Os knows something I don't.

- The final pick of the third round went to Andy Targovnik, and he made yet another stellar pick, selecting Carson Palmer. Although he has yet to test out his surgically repaired knee in live game action, he will likely return to form and turn in another fantasy gem of a season. In my opinion, Targovnik is the early frontrunner for the title based on the quality and value of his first three selections (besides me, of course).
