This is the fourth part in a series chronicling each selection in Realfootball365.com's writer league. Click here to view the results of the third round.

The fourth round was arguably the most sound thus far, with virtually no risky "stretch" picks. There were five quarterbacks selected, five wide receivers and two running backs.

- Andy Targovnik led off the fourth round by selecting WR Santana Moss. Despite his diminutive stature, Moss has been one of the most consistently productive wideouts in the game over the past few seasons. He's a quality No. 1 receiver, and worthy of a fourth-round selection.

- As solid as the Moss selection was, grabbing Anquan Boldin with the second pick in the fourth round is even better in my opinion, and that's exactly what Os Davis did. Boldin is considered by many fantasy football insiders to be one of the top five receivers in the game. Well done, Os.

- Alex Guzman continued his trend of grabbing home-team heroes, selecting Daunte Culpepper with the 39th overall pick. Culpepper has looked extremely solid in the last two preseason outings against two of the league's top defenses and could end up being one of the draft's true steals, especially if he can return to his 2004 form.

- I went with RB Frank Gore. It's always a good thing when your reserve running back is one of the hottest fantasy prospects out there, due to the recent departure of former 49ers starter Kevan Barlow. Hopefully, he'll pay off big fantasy dividends, should one of my No. 1 guys go down or underperform.

- Jason Kirk grabbed quarterback Donovan McNabb. He might not be the flashiest passer out there, but when healthy, he is an extremely efficient fantasy performer. McNabb is definitely worthy of being a No. 1 QB, so this is a solid selection. Let's just hope that his offensive line can keep him off his back on the field of play.

- With the 42nd overall pick, Darrell Laurant grabbed wide receiver Plaxico Burress. This was an extremely sound move because Burress is playing in what, on paper, looks like the most potent offense in the NFC. If young Eli Manning can take that next step, Burress could turn in a monster season.

- J.R. Hopwood selected Lions wide receiver Roy Williams. Although some would consider the oft injured and somewhat temperamental wideout as a risky pick, he is actually a nice player to grab in the fourth round. Williams turned in a solid season last year and should improve under the tutelage of new Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

- Josh Kirk made arguably the best pick of the round, selecting Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme with the 44th overall selection. Delhomme was already one of the most consistent fantasy QB's out there, and now he's got veteran wideout Keyshawn Johnson to go along with Pro Bowler Steve Smith. Well done, Josh.

- Next off the board was Kurt Warner, selected by Anthony Carroll with the ninth pick in the fourth round. Although immobile and somewhat prone to interceptions, Warner should have no problem matching or improving upon last year's numbers. He's got two of the best young receivers in the game, a top veteran running back in Edgerrin James, and a nice red-zone target in rookie TE Leonard Pope. Fantasy sleeper, anyone?

- Eric Krupka finally succumbed to the lure of selecting a player from the team he covers, choosing the Vikings' newly acquired running back Chester Taylor. It's a smart pick, because although Taylor maybe forced to share carries with Minnesota's other backs, he will more than make up for it with the number of receptions that he will likely grab. It also doesn't hurt that Taylor will often be running behind arguably the best left side of an offensive line in all of football.

- Mike Medina grabbed Steelers pass catcher Hines Ward. Although Ward is a little banged up, he is one of the toughest players in the league, one of its most consistent performers, and a solid 47th overall selection.

- Connor Byrne selected a quarterback with the final pick in the fourth round, taking Rams signal caller Marc Bulger. It's always a good thing when you can grab a guy that was considered a top-five fantasy QB just last year. Bulger succumbed to injury in 2005, which is likely the only reason he was still around with the 47th overall selection. Bulger and his offense haven't looked very good during the preseason, but that means next to nothing. He should get back to producing solid numbers in no time.
