This week, we're going to take a look at low-profile players that could become an unlikely source of fantasy football firepower. We'll deal with one player per position, and although I don't fancy myself to be fortune teller (you would have to be to genuinely predict a breakout performance out of a quarterback that threw for under 100 yards last week), I will tell you that with a little research, and some luck, you can cash in with big points out of a reserve or waiver-wire player:

Quarterback: J.P. Losman. Why am I going with a guy who is averaging less than 150 passing yards per game and has yet to throw a touchdown pass? Well, for starters, he's never faced the Jets before. That could mean one of two things: he might struggle to adjust to New York's defensive schemes, or the Jets might have a hard time adjusting to Losman's live arm after dealing with the meager throwing ability offered up by former Bills starter Kelly Holcomb last season. It's a gamble, but if the matchup goes Losman's way, he could have a breakout performance. He did show some flashes last week against Miami, appearing to hit Lee Evans on a long touchdown strike. But Evans was pushed to the ground by CB Will Poole right before he could make the catch.

Also, it should be noted that Losman has been extremely efficient, completing 63.4 percent of his passes and avoiding the interception bug through two games.

Running Back: LenDale White. Starter Travis Henry is currently listed as questionable and backup Chris Brown looked horrible against the Chargers, so after a brief appearance this past weekend, White could notch the first start of his young career. This is a no-brainer of sorts.

Wide Receiver: Wes Welker. Ask any Dolphins fan and they'll tell you: Welker is clearly Daunte Culpepper's go-to receiver. He's caught 10 balls in two games, and is already outscoring some starters around the league, including teammate Marty Booker. Welker seems to be a mixture of Wayne Chrebet and Brandon Stokley, displaying both agility and surehandedness. He should continue to produce as Culpepper's most reliable security blanket downfield for the time-being.

Tight End: Kellen Winslow. Winslow talked a big game after Sunday's loss to the Bengals, suggesting that he should be in the game more, especially during critical situations. He made a habit of performing well after locker room outbursts while at the University of Miami, so just in case that trend carries over into the NFL, consider starting him if you haven't done so already.

Kicker: John Carney. Carney has already put up two double-digit performances, yet he is still a free agent in many leagues. Pick him up if your starting kicker has proved to be a dud.

Defense: Cincinnati Bengals. This defense is still available in plenty of leagues out there. Big mistake. They've played well in two straight contests, scoring 31 points in the process, and should benefit from going up against a somewhat-discombobulated Ben Roethlisberger. Although, truthfully, shuffling around defenses can be a tricky business. Better to stick with what you've got unless you're in dire straits of some sort.
