Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson seems to be everywhere these days. He's featured on the latest series of ESPN commercials, his pre and postgame interviews often make their way into our living rooms, and his jersey is one of the more popular in all of football.

Yet for all the mainstream fanfare, Johnson has been more or less a no-show in 2006, especially in terms of fantasy football exploits. Granted, wide receivers have never been an ultra-hot commodity for fantasy owners due to their inevitable inconsistency in terms of weekly point production. But Johnson's performance has been well below the curve.

His biggest output of the year thus far was a 13-point performance back in Week 2, and the six-year vet is averaging a hair under seven points per game. These numbers are simply not acceptable for a receiver that was in the top three on most fantasy draft boards.

And the worst part is that his fellow Bengals wideout, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, has seemingly replaced Johnson as the playmaker on Cincinnati's offense.

Still, it's too early to lose hope in Johnson. Continue to start him, as he, and the Bengals' offense in general, should recapture their spark as the season progresses. Remember that Carson Palmer's knee will continue to heal and strengthen, which should help get the Pro Bowl signal-caller get back to his 2005 form.
