Three-quarters of the production, none of the headache.

In 2005, the Philadelphia Eagles were willing to split that difference, boot malcontent wide receiver Terrell Owens and entrust a rookie named Reggie Brown with the spot -- and things have been fine ever since. And they should be looking even better in 2007 for the 26-year-old Georgia product, who looks likely to step his game up to the elite ranks in his third year.

As a rookie in 2005, Brown established himself as a capable entity once Owens was axed, performing at a respectable level with the Eagles' second- and third-string quarterbacks (starter Donovan McNabb was injured the majority of the season). He continued to ascend last year, starting under a McNabb-Jeff Garcia quarterback tandem alongside comparably talented wideout Donte' Stallworth, helping lead the Eagles with 46 catches for 816 receiving yards. Brown's 17.9 yard-per catch average was seventh-most in the NFL among qualified players. While he doesn't have the can't-miss explosive skill set of others at the position, he makes up for it with durability, smart play and a good attitude.

If there was any more compelling evidence to suggest Brown's stock is set to rise, consider this: A player's third professional season is traditionally the one in which accumulated gameday experience and physical maturity add up for a breakout campaign. Even more good news -- head coach Andy Reid still loves to pass, McNabb is healthy (for now) and Stallworth is gone, which means the sky's the limit for Brown.

Fantasy analysis: Receiver is traditionally one of the thinnest positions in the draft, with loads of uncertain parity once the first tier of elite options fly off the board. Having a sleeper receiver who can produce at a discount will enable you to focus on valuable steals at other positions early in the draft -- consider Brown that guy.

Brown's at a crossroads in his career in that he hasn't had that huge season yet, so he can be afforded for the cost of a mid-round pick (think Round 5-8). Rest assured, however, that won't be the case for long as he embarks upon 16 weeks with numbers that should topple 65 catches, 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns as McNabb's go-to guy. Invest.
