Elbow nudges Delhomme out for season

Jake Delhomme has opted to have surgery on his ailing throwing elbow and will miss the rest of the season. Delhomme missed the past two games with what the team described as a strained elbow. He decided on surgery after having more discomfort while trying to throw Monday.

Commentary: David Carr hurt his back against New Orleans, so the Panthers' quarterback situation is unresolved. Their third quarterback is Matt Moore.

Fantasy Football Impact: Delhomme had been playing very well before he got hurt, but Carr has not been very good in two starts. At this point, the Carolina QB is not a good fantasy option. And, of course, stud WR Steve Smith is less attractive than he was when Delhomme was playing.
