Ruben Brown, a nine-time Pro Bowl participant at guard, won't be making it 10.

Brown was shut down by the Chicago Bears on Thursday after yet another uncomfortable practice session. The 13-year veteran has been bothered all season by an injured shoulder, and it was finally decided that the pain had become too much for him to play through.

"You don't know the extent until you get to that point where it's not getting any better," said Bears coach Lovie Smith. "He (Brown) needs to get it fixed."

Commentary: Given the fact that Brown is 35 years old and on the downside of his career anyway, you have to wonder if this is the end of the line.

Fantasy Football Impact: Despite his physical problems this season, Brown was a starter at left guard and a leader on the Bears' O-line. In that respect, he'll be missed.
