Adrian Peterson, Minnesota's star rookie running back, will miss at least one game after suffering a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee Sunday against Green Bay. Peterson is not expected to need surgery or miss a lot of time, although his return date is uncertain. Coach Brad Childress ruled Peterson out for the Vikings' game against Oakland this week, but the coach wouldn't give a timetable beyond that.

Commentary: This certainly won't help Peterson's reputation as being injury prone. A lot of people were waiting for him to break down, and the timing was pretty odd as he did it the week after setting the NFL record for rushing yards in a game (296).

Fantasy Football Impact: Peterson is leading the NFL in rushing, thanks to two 200-yard games. With him out, Chester Taylor resumes the starting job he held last season. Behind the Vikings' excellent line, Taylor should be a good fantasy play. Splitting time with Peterson this season, Taylor has 304 yards on 61 attempts (5.0 average), with one touchdown. He should pad those numbers as long as Peterson is out.
