The NFL has warned Dallas cornerback Terrence Newman that it will be watching when he and the Cowboys face Jon Kitna and the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Kitna was critical of the Dallas defense after he threw four TD passes in a Detroit win to end last season, and Newman responded this week by intimating that he might make Kitna eat his words -- along with some turf. "He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge," Newman said in a radio interview, "because I've got 15, 25, 30 (thousand dollars), however much it would be for a fine (for an illegal hit on Kitna). I've got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet definitely." The NFL wrote a letter to Newman, saying in part, "Be advised that your comments will now compel us to carefully monitor your activities in this weekend's Cowboys-Lions game. As you know, flagrant fouls may subject a player not only to fines, but to suspension as well. So conduct yourself accordingly."

Commentary: That was not very bright of Newman to call attention to himself before the game even starts. The referees will now be looking at him -- and his defensive teammates. That puts Dallas at a disadvantage against Kitna and the Lions' offense.

Fantasy Football Impact: None.
