Denver punter Todd Sauerbrun was cited for simple assault after an altercation with a taxi driver early Saturday, the latest in a string of troublemaking episodes that could find the punter out of a job in Denver next offseason.

He is signed only through this season, and coach Mike Shanahan already told him to stay out of trouble when he re-signed. On Monday, Shanahan said, "If he's guilty, he's going to have to pay the price."

Commentary: Sauerbrun has been a whole lot more trouble than most punters are worth. He was suspended for four games last season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. During his 13-year career, he also has been arrested for drunken driving and been linked to a doctor who illegally prescribed steroids to NFL players.

Fantasy Football Impact: None.
