Dallas quarterback Tony Romo is expected to play against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday night even though he has a bruised thumb on his throwing hand. He reportedly underwent an MRI on Monday, and the injury was revealed to be nothing more than a serious bruise with some swelling. The thumb was to be looked at again Tuesday.

On other injury fronts, guard Andre Gurode had an MRI on his injured knee and encouraged coach Wade Phillips by walking around on it. Defensive end Chris Canty also hurt his left knee, but he didn't need an MRI and was expected to play against Carolina. Receiver Terry Glenn (knee) should practice again this week and might play for the first time this season.

Commentary: The Cowboys can't rest guys yet because they have not quite locked up home-field advantage. They can do that by winning this week or getting a loss out of Green Bay.

Fantasy Football Impact: Romo's injury messed up a lot of playoff teams last week. He and Tom Brady were the two best fantasy QBs this season, and both had horrible games that cost many teams playoff wins. Anyone who managed to survive despite Romo's injury-induced performance might want to consider a backup if that QB is any good.
