After Tony Romo practiced Wednesday despite a bruised thumb on his passing hand, coach Wade Phillips all but said the quarterback would start Saturday against Carolina. Romo, who was injured in a loss to Philadelphia last Sunday, did everything in practice Wednesday but take direct snaps. "He seemed to get better and better as the practice went along as far as his thumb and throwing the football," Phillips told reporters. "It looks like he's going to play to me." Meanwhile, center Andre Gurode probably won't play because of a knee injury also suffered against the Eagles.

Commentary: Romo had the worst game of his career against the Eagles. He completed just 13 of 36 passes for 214 yards and three interceptions, and he failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time in 18 games. Some say it was because he wasn't focused with girlfriend Jessica Simpson in the stands. We say it was because he hurt his thumb.

Fantasy Football Impact: If you have a better option at QB, use him, because there's no telling how the thumb (or Jessica) might affect Romo.
