Tough-as-nails Takeo Spikes shouldered more than his share of the defensive load in Philadelphia's 10-6 upset of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Now, one of those shoulders is sending him to the sidelines.

The Eagles' linebacker, second on the team in tackles, was shut down Thursday with a rotator cuff injury. Wide receiver Michael Gasperson was activated from the practice squad to fill Spikes' spot on the roster.

Commentary: It's a measure of Spikes' pain tolerance that he played part of the Dallas game with his injury, including a tackle for loss late in the game that set up Lito Sheppard's interception of a Tony Romo pass. That pick led to the game's only touchdown.

Fantasy Football Impact: The Eagles are currently fourth in the NFL in defense. This won't help.
