Tennessee quarterback Vince Young (quadriceps) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and hopes to start against San Diego in their AFC wild-card playoff game Sunday. But Young won't have one of his top receivers as the Titans put tight end Bo Scaife on injured reserve with a lacerated liver.

Scaife, the team's No. 3 receiver with a career-high 46 catches for 421 yards, was hurt when he was hit Sunday night in Tennessee's playoff-clinching win over Indianapolis. Scaife finished the game, but coach Jeff Fisher said the tight end was hospitalized for tests Monday. Scaife was released from the hospital Wednesday morning, but because he needs six weeks of rest, the Titans were forced to put him on injured reserve.

Commentary: Scaife has turned into one of the Titans' most dependable offensive players (which doesn't say much), and losing him lowers the Titans' already-bad chances of beating the Chargers. This is a chance for deposed starter Ben Troupe to show his quality again and for Ben Hartsock to step up as well. The team also signed TE Jamie Petrowski off the practice squad.

Fantasy Football Impact: Scaife should be set to return for next season, but his numbers make him a No. 2 tight end at best.
