The Houston Texans made 28-year-old Kyle Shanahan the league's youngest offensive coordinator and also hired line guru Alex Gibbs as assistant head coach. They replace Mike Sherman, the former OC and AHC who left to become coach at Texas A&M in November.

Shanahan, son of Denver coach Mike Shanahan, was with the Texans for the past two years as receivers coach and then quarterbacks coach. He is nearly three years younger than Josh McDaniels, New England's 31-year-old offensive coordinator. Gibbs, 66, was the longtime line coach for Mike Shanahan in Denver before helping the Atlanta Falcons the past four years.

Commentary: The Texans have become the Broncos South under coach Gary Kubiak, Denver's former OC. Adding Gibbs, a master of zone blocking, should improve Houston's running game. Houston is a team to watch in 2008.

Fantasy Football Impact: Houston's running backs should be more valuable with Gibbs calling the shots. But who will be running the ball? Ahman Green is still under contract, but he ran for just 260 yards before being put on injured reserve with a knee injury in early December. Ron Dayne led the team with 773 yards and six touchdowns, but he is a pending free agent. Looks like the Texans need a back.
