With free agency looming just a month away, the Cleveland Browns have tendered contract offers to two offensive stars, running back Jamal Lewis and quarterback Derek Anderson. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the contract lengths are two years for Lewis and three for Anderson, though no financial information was released.

Commentary: The Browns were the best team to miss the playoffs, and their cadre of young players has fans hoping for another good season. Anderson has proven himself as a top NFL starter, and he would be highly sought after if he becomes a free agent on Feb. 29. The contract is hopefully aggressively priced, lest the Browns entrust their organization to the young Brady Quinn.

The shorter contract length for Lewis makes sense given that he's getting on in years -- he would be 30 at the end of the contract. His backup, Jason Wright, is 25 and rushed for 4.8 yards per carry last year. But like the quarterback situation, it's hard to see the Browns wanting to switch out many of the puzzle pieces that led to a 7-1 home record and a nearly playoff-worthy 10-6 overall mark.

Fantasy Football Impact: Nobody drafted Anderson in the top 20 quarterbacks at the beginning of the season. Next year, no matter where he ends up, he'll be looked at in the top 10. Lewis, regardless of whose jersey he sports, would also be worthy of a look in the top 10 at his position.
