The Washington Redskins fired defensive coordinator Gregg Williams on Saturday, ending any rumors that he is being considered for the head coaching position. Williams led the defense for four years under Joe Gibbs, who resigned as head coach on Jan. 8.

Williams interviewed several times with owner Dan Snyder, but the two finally decided to part company.

In a statement released Saturday, Snyder said, "The process of selecting a new head coach continues, although no hire is planned until after the Super Bowl so as not to distract from the championship game as well as to keep open all our options."

Commentary: When Snyder says he wants to keep all his options open, it's hard not to think of currently occupied New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Fantasy Football Impact: None.
