Another edition of "SEC Fastball."

Florida has the speed to win it all: The Gators' 51-21 victory over the LSU Tigers this past Saturday tells the ‘what’ part of the story. The 'how' part is what was amazing, though.

The bottom line during this contest is that Florida’s offense looked much faster than an LSU defense known for its speed. Quarterback Tim Tebow looked too fast for them at times. Percy Harvin always looked too fast. And it wasn’t just them, either. This Florida offense has as much speed as any in recent memory, and that means that the national title is not out of reach despite a previous loss to Ole Miss.

Alabama does nothing and falls: Another thing wrong with the polls. Texas plays a great game and defeats the Oklahoma Sooners. Afterward, the Longhorns suddenly jump the Crimson Tide in the polls, which didn’t even play a game this past weekend. Now if Alabama defeats LSU later this season, the opposite will probably occur.

Guess it doesn’t matter, though. In the end, the top two teams get to play for the BCS championship.

Vanderbilt says goodbye to undefeated record: Well, it was fun while it lasted. Sylvester Croom’s Mississippi State Bulldogs took out the Commodores by a score of 17-14 on Saturday. Not even backup quarterback Mackenzi Adams could save them.

Auburn says goodbye and still loses: Last week, Tigers head coach Tommy Tuberville let offensive coordinator Tony Franklin go. That wasn't enough Saturday, though, as the Tigers lost to Arkansas, 25-22. Up to this point in the season, the Razorbacks hadn’t exactly been impressive. So, this loss has to make you wonder about the Tigers for the rest of the season. Speaking of the rest of the season . . .

Auburn’s Iron Bowl streak is in serious jeopardy: Right now the Tigers are playing like they’re going to drop their first Iron Bowl in a long time. Not to mention that the Tide looks like a world-beater. Talk about the icing on the cake on a disappointing season if that happens to Tuberville and the gang.
