After examining his elbow and performing an MRI, doctors have confirmed that Eli Manning has only a slight sprain. His status will be week-to-week.

Manning was injured in this past weekend's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. DE Julius Peppers swatted the ball out of Manning's hand as he attempted a pass. Peppers eventually recovered the loose ball and returned it for a touchdown. Manning returned for the New York Giants next offensive series, but then began complaining of pains in his throwing elbow.

Eli Manning should be ready to go in time for the Giants' first regular season game on September 11th. In the meantime, backup Tim Hasselbeck will work with the starting offense.
