The Giants have signed guard Chris Snee to a six-year extension that will make him one of the five highest-paid guards in the NFL. The dollar amount of the deal was not immediately released.

Snee started all 20 games for the Super Bowl champion Giants last season. The deal keeps him in New York through 2014.

Commentary: Contracts signed by fellow guards Steve Hutchinson (Vikings) and Alan Faneca (Jets) are two of the biggest guard deals signed recently, and they are around $7-8 million per season. Being the son-in-law of the head coach who just received a contract extension (Tom Coughlin) couldn't have hurt Snee's cause.
