The New York Giants released veteran defensive tackle Norman Hand. The veteran DT started 11 games for the Giants last season before missing the final 5 games with a groin injury. He totaled 15 tackles and 1 sack in 2004.

In his 10 year career, Hand has spent time with the Miami Dolphins (1995-1996), San Diego Chargers (1997-1999), New Orleans Saints (2000-2002), Seattle Seahawks (2003) and the Giants. He recorded 280 tackles and 22.5 sacks.

In 2005, the Giants plan to start Fred Robbins and William Joseph at DT. Newly-acquired Kendrick Clancy will spell the starters.
