The New York Giants are seeking to block a $1.3 billion addition to the Meadowlands sports complex. A lawsuit filed by the team will seek to force the complex's owner - the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority - to halt the construction of a shopping center named Xanadu.

Construction work on the new development began on March 28. It will host sports-themed theaters, bars, restaurants and shopping outlets and is slated to be built around the Continental Airlines Arena in the 400-acre Meadowlands complex.

A key issue for the Giants in the dispute is over parking at the complex, which the team claims would hinder its fans on game days. During earlier stadium negotiations, the Giants sought to have Xanadu closed on game days to avoid parking and traffic problems.
