The New York Giants signed offensive tackle Bob Whitfield. The veteran will be a quality backup for starting tackles Luke Petitgout and Kareem McKenzie.

The 6'5", 310 lbs. Whitfield played 10 games last year for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A Stanford product, Whitfield played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 to 2003. He played in 178 games (167 starts) with Atlanta. After breaking into the starting lineup in his second year, Whitfield started the next 167 games he participated for the Falcons. The eight overall pick of the 1992 draft was released by Atlanta after breaking his right leg midway through the 2003 season.
