Former University of Illinois football player Erique Robertson will spend 43 days in jail after pleading guilty to one count of unlawful use of a firearm.

Commentary: Robertson's guilty plea serves as a contradiction to an earlier not guilty plea. Regardless, he was arrested in January outside a Champaign, Ill., bar after a police officer nearby heard gunshots. Witnesses indicated that they saw Robertson firing shots near Club E'llusions.

On top of the jail time, Robertson also faces 24 months of probation. He was dismissed from the team around the time that the charges came down.
