JACKSONVILLE, Florida - The Jacksonville Jaguars named safety Donovin Darius their franchise player on Tuesday. Darius, who would have been an unrestricted free agent, will make $4.968 million next season if he does not sign a long-term deal with the Jaguars or is traded.

This past season, the 29-year-old former Syracuse star tied for the team lead with five interceptions and was third on the squad with 89 tackles - both career highs. He was also fined for the horrific clothesline tackle that sidelined Packers WR Robert Ferguson near the end of the regular season.
