JACKSONVILLE, Florida - The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed their franchise player, Donovin Darius, to a 1 year tender contract. Darius received the team's franchise tag for the 3rd straight season. The hard-hitting safety's new deal is worth the average of the top 5 salaries at his position last season - which amounts to $4.97 million - or a 20% raise, whichever is greater.

The 29 year-old Darius started every game last season, was 3rd on the team with 125 tackles and registered a team-record 9 turnovers. He is the franchise's all-time leading tackler with 790.

Along with Darius, the Jaguars re-signed defensive tackle Derrick Ransom, who had 16 tackles in 10 games last season. The Jags also tendered contract offers to two restricted free agents, linebacker Akin Ayodele and safety Deke Cooper; and three exclusive rights players, RB David Allen, QB Quinn Gray and C Brett Romberg. Romberg, a native of Windsor (Ontario) Canada, starred for the University of Miami Hurricanes before signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 2003.
