Jaguars release Tommy Hendricks, re-sign Deke Cooper

Jacksonville Jaguars released linebacker Tommy Hendricks a week after being charged with violating a restraining order filed by his ex-wife.

Hendricks turned himself on misdemeanor charges in violation of an injunction issued the previous day. He was released on $1,500 bond and was being treated for unknown medical issues.

Hendricks recorded 28 tackles in 15 games played during 2004. He played his first 4 seasons with the Miami Dolphins. In 5 years, Hendricks has111 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in 71 games.

The franchise also re-signed restricted free agent safety Deke Cooper. In 16 games during 2004, Cooper recorded 37 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles. The University of Notre Dame product broke into the NFL in 2002 with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Jaguars in 2003. In 40 career games, Cooper has totalled 98 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 passes defended.
