The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed young quarterback David Garrard to a contract extension. The team also re-signed linebacker Akin Ayodele to a tender offer. The restricted free agent is one of the unsung stars on the Jaguars defense.

The 6'1" Garrard appeared in 4 games (2 starts) during 2004. He went 38-72 for 374 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also had 12 carries for 76 yds and 1 TD. The former East Carolina star has been a backup all 3 years with the Jags.

The 6'2", 251 lbs. Ayodele played in all games in 2004. He recorded 92 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. The ex-Purdue Boilermaker has also been with the Jaguars since 2002. He has appeared in all 48 games in his 3 year career, amassing 273 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 INTs, 6 passes deflected, 4 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries.
