The Jacksonville Jaguars opened their mandatory mini-camp without safety Donovin Darius. The player is disgruntled about receiving the dreaded franchise player tag the last 3 years.

Darius also complained about the designation prior to last season. Coach Jack Del Rion granted the safety permission to sit out mini-camp. This year, the coach requested Darius to practice with team. He will be fined for each session missed.

Darius did sign the franchise tender which guarantees him a $4.97 million paycheck for this season. Nevertheless, he did seek out trades to the Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins. The Jaguars have not received any interest from teams willing to acquire Darius.

Despite missing every practice session this offseason, coach Del Rio expects Darius to report for training camp in early July.
