Apparently the Jets won't have to rely on quarterback Brett Favre to do everything in order for the team to continue their winning ways. Running back Thomas Jones, who has failed to live up to the hype he had when the Jets acquired him from Chicago in 2007, did something he's never done before in the green and white uniform: Jones scored more than one touchdown in a game -- three, to be precise -- in a 26-14 win over the winless Bengals on Sunday.

Jones covered what was an otherwise poor day for New York. Favre, coming off a career-best six touchdown passes in a Week 4 win over Arizona, looked very ordinary in throwing for 189 yards, a TD and two interceptions. The scoring strike went to Jones, only the second receiving TD of his nine-year career. Jones also added 65 yards rushing.

While the Week 6 win will rank up there with some of Jones' best efforts as a Jet, it should be mentioned that he matched his season average by amassing just 3.8 yards per carry. Jones will have to up that if the Jets are going to compete with some of the league's best teams. They do, however, have a chance to move to 5-2 before facing off against AFC East leader Buffalo on Nov. 2. All the Jets have to do is beat 1-4 Oakland next week, which everyone seemingly can do, and then knock off one-win Kansas City.

Fan Pulse: Some Jets fans aren't so keen on Jones, going so far as to refer to him as a "bum": http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=35816&page=6.

Fantasy Football Commentary: If you're expecting many more three-touchdown games from Jones, you're going to be in for a world of disappointment. Jones is a decent second RB option, but he's better as a flex type.

Injury Watch:
WR David Clowney was inactive for Sunday's game with a collarbone injury. He may miss another week.
