New York Jets All-Pro defensive end John Abraham has not signed his $6.7 million franchise tender. As a result, he can't participate with the team at its complex in Hempstead, Long Island.

Abraham has been working out on his own. He awaits whether he'll play for the Jets or some other team. When he let a March 16 deadline on the signing period for franchise contracts to pass, the cannot re-negotiate with the DE until July.

Abraham has never been fully healthy in his 5 years since joing New York. He missed the last 4 regular season contests, plus 2 playoff games in 2004 after suffering right knee sprain. Apparently, the dominating player is finally free of the persistent injuries that have plagued him.
