Jets waive Doug Brien

The New York Jets released kicker Doug Brien. The 11 year veteran was cut days after the Jets selected All-American K Mike Nugent in the second round of the NFL draft.

New York used their first pick this year at number 47 overall to draft Ohio State's Nugent. The rookie kicker with a strong leg connected on 65 of 74 field goal attempts during college.

The 6'0", 185 lbs. Brien went 24-29 on field goal attempts in 2004. A product of University of California, Brien also has played for the San Francisco 49ers (1994), the New Orleans Saints (1995-2000), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2001), and the Minnesota Vikings (2002) prior to joining the Jets in 2003.
