The New York Jets have signed their 3rd round draft pick, Sione Pouha. The 6'3'' 325 pound defensive tackle was a two-year starter for the Utah Utes. He finished his senior season with 35 tackles (three for a loss) and two sacks.

Pouha originally signed with the Utah Utes back in 1997, but then left for a religious mission in Pittsburgh from 1998-2000. He received the heroism award from the Mountain West Conference after rescuing a woman from a smoke-filled apartment in 2002.

Sione Pouha has an interesting ethnic background. His father is from Nakolo, Tongatapu (Tonga). His mother is from Uiha, Ha'apai. Pouha grew up in Salt Lake City.
