New York Jets cornerback Donnie Abraham has decided to retire after nine NFL seasons. The 31 year-old spent six seasons playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Jets. His numbers have been in decline ever since.

He finishes his career with 447 tackles and 38 interceptions (three for touchdowns). As a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defender he averaged an impressive five interceptions per season, but after making the move to the New York Jets he collected only seven interceptions in three seasons.

Donnie Abraham had been considering retirement since the end of last season, but decided to participate in off-season workouts to see if he still had a yearning to play in the NFL. He informed the team of his intention to retire earlier this week.
