The Kansas Jayhawks picked up two more commitments on Friday for the 2009 class, and both are from the same high school.

Last season Bowie High (Arlington, Texas) quarterback Christian Matthews completed 64 percent of his 378 passes for 2,786 yards and 25 touchdowns against only 10 picks. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound dual-threat gunslinger also accrued 604 yards on 106 rush attempts and eight scores in the run game. He chose Kansas over Louisville, Michigan, Utah and Tulsa.

Matthews’ teammate, safety Dexter Linton, who had 103 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass deflections, also committed to Kansas. The 6-0, 185-pounder chose Mark Mangino’s program over several schools, including Louisville, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Wisconsin and Houston.

COMMENTARY: Since April 10, the program has accumulated nine commitments.
