As the first week of the season comes to a close, the second most talked about rookie quarterback has been welcomed to the NFL.

Matthew Stafford, after being selected first overall by the Lions and had the future of the franchise placed on his shoulders, was introduced to the culture of the team: losing. Completing 16 of 37 passes for 205 yards seems not too bad, but when you calculate in no touchdowns and 3 (two to the same guy) interceptions you see how painful it was. Stafford did punch one in the endzone himself in the 3rd quarter which boosted the young quarterbacks confidence a smidge.

While Detroit fans should remain optimistic about their teams future, they need not be reminded that they are coming off the only 0-16 season in NFL history. The Lions have been rebuilding for the last 40 years it seems. Give the kid some time before you start showing up to the games with paper bags on your heads.
