The Lions signed running back Jamel White to backup starting RB Kevin Jones. The team also released RB Ken Simonton.

The 5'9", 208 lbs. free agent runner ran the ball 27 times for 82 yards in 13 games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2004. He also caught 6 passes for 21 yards.

The South Dakota product began his career with the Cleveland Browns in 2000 before joining the Ravens last year. In 5 years as a pro, he has recorded 1,406 yards rushing in 376 attempts (3.7 ypc) and 9 TDs. White also has 172 receptions for 1,294 yard and 2 TDs.
