The Detroit Lions re-signed linebacker Wali Rainer and cornerback Chris Cash.

The 6'2", 240 lbs. Rainer was an unrestricted free agent. He finished 2004 with 20 tackles in 16 games over 16 games played, mostly on special teams. A product of the University of Virginia, Rainer played in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns (1999-2001) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (2002) prior to joining the Lions in 2003. He has totalled 471 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 INT, 19 passes deflected, 6 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries in 94 games.

The 5'10", 185 lbs. Cash was a restricted free agent. In 2004, he had 30 tackles, 1 INT, 3 deflected passes, and 1 forced fumble. The former USC Trojan has been a pro with Detroit since 2002. He has 130 tackles, 2 INTs, 13 deflected passes, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries in 27 games played.
