Detroit Lions defensive end Kalimba Edwards was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest and failing to produce a driver's license. State police stressed that Edwards was not aggressive and did not attempt to assault the officers during a traffic stop this past weekend.

According to Michigan State Police, Edwards refused to show his license after being pulled over by a trooper in Southfield. The trooper warned him that if he did not produce identification, he would be arrested. When Edwards refused again, the trooper asked him to step out of his vehicle to arrest him. However, the 6'6", 265 pound Edwards resisted by not allowing the trooper to put the handcuffs on.

The trooper then summoned local police for backup. When officers arrived, pepper spray was applied to Edwards.
