The Detroit Lions have taken a step towards shoring up their defensive backfield and their return game by signing veteran cornerback R.W. McQuarters. Although I do not have the specific figures on the contract, I do know that deal is for just one year.

R.W. McQuarters was a highly touted prospect coming out of Oklahoma State University. He was a first round draft pick for the San Francisco 49ers but failed to impress and was quickly shipped out to the Chicago Bears where he spent the last five seasons. McQuarters strongest asset might be his punt returning skills. He was among the league leaders in punt return average and returned a kick for a touchdown in each of the past two seasons.
