There's no question -- he's a lucky Guy.

Shot in the back outside a Louisville nightclub on July 5, University of Louisville wide receiver Trent Guy was out of the hospital in less than a week and is expected to make a full recovery.

Guy got into an altercation with a club patron who approached his fiancee, and both combatants were ejected. Then, as Guy and his date were walking toward a nearby parking garage, two men opened fire and Guy was hit. He required immediate surgery, but it has not been determined whether he'll be able to start the 2008 season on the field.

If Guy can't play, it would be a serious loss for the Cardinals, who kicked fellow receiver JaJuan Spillman off the team this month after his second pot arrest. With Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia gone to the NFL, Scott Long is now the most reliable receiver in Steve Kragthorpe's offense, but Guy (who also returns kicks) is the most viable deep threat, averaging 16.1 yards a catch last season.

No one has been arrested in Guy's shooting.
