Matt Flynn is a 6-foot-3, 228-pound quarterback who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds. Right now, NFLDraftCountdown.com has him as the 12th-best QB on its pre-draft list.

The players ahead of him are as follows: Matt Ryan; Brian Brohm; Andre Woodson; Colt Brennan; Chad Henne; John David Booty; Erik Ainge; Joe Flacco; Dennis Dixon; Sam Keller; and Anthony Morelli.

Judging by that, you'd think Flynn hadn't just led his team to a national championship while fighting nagging injuries the entire season.

Therein lies the most compelling reason to give Flynn a shot: He is a winner. He played in tons of close games this past season against elite SEC competition like Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky. And in every case, Flynn played well enough to win when it counted (and most of the time did).

He's shifty enough in the pocket. he has some mobility, and he's very tough. Heck, even Flynn's size is good enough (though not great, and that will hurt him). The stats, however, are not that alluring when you compare Flynn to guys like Brennan, Woodson and Brohm. In fact, Flynn completed 202 of 359 passes for 2,407 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2007-08.

Still, Flynn's numbers are far from bad. Yes, Flynn has sometimes been inconsistent throwing the ball. Then again, he has a strong enough arm to get it done and was consistently good when it all counted.

Don't forget those nagging injuries, by the way.

NFL Draft Prediction: Just about everyone out there is having a very difficult time predicting where Flynn will be drafted. Add RealFootball365.com to the list. However, when you break things down, Flynn is a draft worthy guy. Further, even if Flynn really only started one season, you have to like his intangibles even if he would need time to develop.

Figure on the best-case scenario being the third round. Flynn's basement is likely Round 5.
