Miami Hurricane defensive end Allen Bailey tore his pectoral muscle during weight training on Monday and is expected to have surgery this week.

The rising sophomore moved from linebacker to defensive end and grabbed the starting spot in the process.

Should Bailey miss the Canes’ season premiere against Charleston Southern, Courtney Harris or Adewale Ojomo would get the starting nod.

COMMENTARY: It reportedly takes three to four months for a complete healing, which puts Bailey’s return approximately at the Texas A&M or North Carolina game. Chances are Bailey won’t return by the Florida game (Sept. 6 in Gainesville); and if he does, he won’t be 100 percent. He’ll likely miss fall practice.
