Mississippi State head football coach Sylvester Croom signed a new four-year contract with the school on Friday. The contract calls for a guaranteed salary of $1.7 million in 2008.

Commentary: The contract has been forwarded to the school's interim president, Dr. Vance Watson, and still must be approved by the board of trustees. That said, it's not looking like those particulars are going to be much of a problem.

"We've been very pleased with the leadership coach Croom has provided the football program and are glad to see that the details of his contract are complete," Watson said in a news release.

Croom had already agreed to a two-year extension through the 2011 season in January after leading Mississippi State to an 8-5 record and Liberty Bowl victory last season.
